computers of today and the future

Metrology tools are critical to the development of reliable devices that have a demand for high performance. Metrology can help to make sure that designs can be implemented. It can determine whether there are new processes that can be developed to enhance an existing design. Metrology can even help to monitor high levels of production during the manufacturing process to make sure errors are reduced to a minimum.

To properly implement a metrology strategy, a proper handling of the dimensional instruments that make metrology possible must be implemented as well. If these instruments are not properly handled, then the measurements made will not be accurate. This will skew the metrics of what is being measured, which will then create inaccurate information, outcomes, and prevent a maximized result.

How Do You Properly Handle Dimensional Instruments?
Dimensional instruments help with the measurement process of woodworking or metalworking. To be properly handled, therefore, each instrument must be able to retain its accuracy so that measurements can be as accurate as possible. For some dimensional instruments, such as a tape measure, handling the tool is simple as it measures from Point A to Point B. For other instruments, however, such as a relascope, they must be handled in a specific way so that an accurate measurement can be made.

Storage of these instruments also varies in regards to level of complicated measurements that the instrument is able to give. A tape measure, for example, must simply be retracted without bending the measurement tape and then stored in its receptacle, often on a shelf. A micrometer, however, must be stored in such a way that the calipers cannot be modified or damaged in any sort of way.

How Are Dimensional Instruments Specifically Used?
Some dimensional instruments are for general use and can be used in virtually every woodworking or metalworking application. They simply measure basic components and require no specificity. Other instruments are designed with a specific purpose in mind:
  • The relascope is utilized to specifically measure the height of trees, while
  • The micrometer is utilized to measure very small distances, such as what would be found in a microscope.

Each tool has a specific purpose and each purpose leads to the overall result that must be achieved. Using these tools as an example, the relascope would be utilized to determine which tree would be appropriate for a woodworking project. The tape measure would be utilized to determine the exact length the tree must be after it has been felled. The micrometer would be used during the finalization process to make sure the woodworking project has been completed to exact specifications.

Why Is This Important To Know?
Metrology tools must be both properly handled and utilized in order for them to be effective. If they are not properly handled or utilized, then results simply cannot be created or tracked and this can greatly affect a profit margin. Metrology truly is a skill that must be learned, but you can begin the learning process today by discovering how to properly handle each metrology tool.

Samsung Unveils First Curved Display Handset Samsung Galaxy Round

Samsung unveiled  first curved display device with  5.7 inches of curved or flexible display that supports Snapdragon 800 processor with 3gb of ram. The phone itself doesn’t fit in a phone category neither in a tablet category and it’s better to give it a phablet category like Galaxy Mega 6.3, Note 3  launched by Samsung.

Display

Round  packs Super AMOLED flexible  display  that runs at 1080p resolution with 386 pixels per inch.

Hardware:

Round is powered with mighty Snapdragon 800 processor with a 2.3 GHZ clock speed and 3gb of Ram, this is a best clock speed you can have in your mobile until now with 3gb of ram like Note 3. Round  have powerful Adreno 330 GPU same Gpu that we have on Note 3, LG G2 and Xperia Z Ultra to push all the power for gaming and graphics. Hardware is one of the strength in this mobile as it introduces you to most powerful Snapdragon 800 with over clock cpu speed and this is with 3gb of ram.

Design

Despite the fact Round sports 5.7 inches of display the Round  is thinner and lighter than Note 3, measuring 151.1 x 79.6 and its 7.9mm thick and weighs just 154grams. Its easy to grip Round in comparison to  Note 3 due to its curved design and its fit easily in your hand as compared to note 3 for doing one hand operation. On the back of a device you will have a same leather textured removable plastic battery cover with fake stitching which looks good and give you some sort of premium feel.

Software

Round ships  with Android 4.3 and runs Samsung Touchwiz with a same feature that we have on Note 3 and  S4, like air gesture, air view, smart scroll, smart stay and many motion sensors that we have on S4, Note 3. However, a downside of Round is absence of Spen that we have on Note 3.

Internal Memory

There's 32GB of built-in storage, while a microSD slot will add upto 64GB if needed.

Connectivity

Round packs 4G LTE-A  connectivity, HD Voice along with NFC, Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, AGPS, Wifi Tethering and packs all other connectivity options that we have on S4.

Battery

Round is equipped with removable 2800 mAh battery which seems to me lower than the power of might 3200mah available on Note 3
Camera

Round has 13 MP camera at the back which is capble of recording 1080p and 4k videos from it and supports HDR for both stills and movies with Dual shot mode like S4 Camera with single flash. On the front of Round we have 2 Mega pixel camera similar to Xperia Z Ultra and LG G2.

Final Verdict

To give my final verdict we are going to use a SWOT analysis below

Strength

Round packs a considerable beautiful 5.7 inches 1080p curved display which is so called flexible Amoled Display  with a superior design, better camera and strong processor.

Weakness
One of the weaknesses I have found in Round  is its build quality for some of the users and unrelated Touchwiz  software features which people think slow down a device and doesn’t make any good use for them. Another weakness is its round shape which seems to me curved rather than a flexible display because you can not flex it.

Opportunity

3gb of ram is the biggest opportunity Samsung can avail by introducing a Snapdragon 800 processor in its first curved phone.

Threats

The biggest threat to Round is Lg Flex, but Lg flex supports 720p where as Round supports 1080p display.

technology smartphone

The smartphone market is filled with devices that attempt to outsmart each other through the features they provide. Most device makers launch a new version of their flagship product every year, which makes it difficult to choose the best out of the numerous options. However, since these smartphones are quite expensive, it is prudent to carry out a complete research before settling down on a particular device. As all these devices provide the complete set of hardware and software specifications, it is relatively easy to compare them and identify your perfect smartphone. Here are some of the parameters which should be considered as the deciding factors while buying a smartphone

a. Display: The size of the smartphone screen is not the only criteria to be considered here. Most smartphones have a screen-size in the range of 3 to 5 inches. While a screen size of 5 inch would give you a large display, the downside of it is that it would be difficult to hold and operate the device in one hand. A 4.3 inch screen is considered to the most ergonomic size for a cellular phone. However, the other factor to be considered here is the display resolution and the technology used. The best devices use the latest Super LED or IPS display technologies, while providing a full high-definition (HD) display.

b. Processor and RAM: The speed of the processor determines how capable the mobile device is in handling multiple tasks at a time. The latest phones have dual or quad core processors, which help device the running tasks in different processing units called cores. However, the system must be optimized to be able to utilize all the processor cores simultaneously. Similarly, the RAM determines the volatile memory that the processor can work with. Therefore, a high-speed processor would need an equally capable RAM in order to support multitasking.

c. Camera: It is almost a mandatory thing for modern smartphones to have a front and a back camera. Modern phones such as Galaxy S4 and LG G2 provide advanced digital cameras with 8 mega pixels (MP) capability. Since front cameras are generally used for video-conferencing, one can settle for a lower specification. This is because the higher resolution cameras would take longer to render video images across the Internet, thereby slowing the whole process.

d. Battery: Although most smartphones cannot be expected to last more than a day, it is still very important to consider the battery capacity before investing on a phone. While most phones provide a battery capacity in the range of 1800 to 2000 mAH, the best devices can provide capability up to 2600 mAH.

The current generation mobile devices are capable of emulating every single feature available in a personal computer or a laptop. Moreover, it has certain extra features that make it an inevitable device in the modern world. It has been made possible with the help of advanced internal circuitry and the integration of several sensors that provides the phone with inputs based on the system's or the user's behaviour. Here we take a look at the popular sensors that are available on most mobile devices:

a. GPS sensor: GPS stands for Global Positioning System, which helps in tracking the geographical location of the device and interpolates it in the global map. With GPS sensors, mobile users can allow applications and other devices to know its current position and provide it with contextual information. For example, apps like Foursquare use the user's current location with the help of the GPS sensor to provide them with nearby restaurants and places of interest.

b. Proximity sensor: The main use of this sensor is to detect the closeness of human body parts to the phone. It can detect the presence of human body, which can be utilized to manipulate the functions of the mobile. For example, smartphones can detect if the mobile is not near the user's ear and turn off the screen light in order to save battery. The proximity sensor can further be used to prevent pocket dialing, or unwanted keypad inputs when the user is on a call.

c. Ambient light sensor: This is another sensor which is installed on mobile devices to prevent excessive usage of the mobile battery. When the device is exposed to the daylight settings, the brightness and contrast properties of the phone are automatically adjusted to provide an optimal display. The sensor can detect the presence of light based on the photo diodes that are present in its system, and act accordingly on the device.

d. Accelerometer: Most phones automatically tilt the display of the phone from portrait format to landscape, depending on how the phone is held by the user. This feature is provided by the accelerometer. Accelerometers can detect the orientation of the device with reference to a static frame. Apart from the display screen, this feature is also available on the device cameras as well.
